Happy Birthday to my old friend Dan Hendricks. I worked with Dan my last two years of high school at his parents' store Hendricks House of Color. I learned gobs about paints, varnishes, wall paper, etc.—things that really helped my around the house in future years. Now I wish I'd worked for a car mechanic back in the day. Could have saved myself loads of $$$ through the years. A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Dan!

Classmates Dave Shepherd, Gerard Marshall, Eric Dobberteen, and me enjoyed a weekend in Michigan recently. Besides touring old haunts and paying our respects at the cemeteries, we bike hiked along the Fred Meijers Heartland Trail from Alma to Edmore (and back). Good times.

There's a lot of us turning 69 this year. I guess we know what that means for next year -- a lot of us turning 70. Wow. Can you believe it? 70? Weren't we just 18?

Let us know some creative ways to celebrate our 70th birthdays. And we'll share with other classmates. Some are already sharing on Facebook group called Going Deep: Like After Lakeview. Check it out.

"It's a beautiful day for a ball game, a ball game today..."

Are you a LHS '66er already wintering in Florida? Are you planning on vacationing in Florida in March? Then this might be for you.
.
Jan Fuller Ritter is lead organizer of an outing for our classmates and their guests to attend a Detroit Tigers spring training game on March 15, at 1 PM in Lakeland, Florida.

We're looking at a block of seats where we could all sit together and fellowship too. The stadium is new and the section Jan is focussing on offers GREAT views of the field while providing ample shade too. Kathy (McNinch) and I are already planning on going as are Dan and Jan Hendricks. We would love to see more of our old LHS friends attend too. If you are interested email me andersonwriter@gmail.com and I'll send you address where you can mail your tix check to Jan

Hey LHS '66-ers!

What are you doing on Tuesday, January 31, for lunch?

How about joining a bunch of your old classmates in Florida for some food and fun at our first "Snowbird Mini" reunion. Classmates Jan Fuller, Dan Hendricks, Kathy McNinch, Hugh Ivany, Dawn Koerner, Gary Fields, Mary Lynn Garms, Bob Stebleton, and Mike Anderson (me) are already planning on being there. And we are still working on Ron Armour, Cheri Griswold, Ken Bilbrey, Marilyn Seinders, Why not come on down and thaw out with some old friends?

If you are considering joining us for a long lunch (everyone goes dutch on food and drinks) please email me with the names of who might be attending so we can keep a headcount. andersonwriter@gmail.com

We'll be meeting from 1-4 at the Red Lobster in Lakeland, Florida just off I-4. We'll have our own room to enjoy some smiles and nostalgia. We look forward to seeing you there.

Since so many in our class now winter in Florida, Dan Hendricks, Jan Fuller Ritter, and I are arranging a "Snowbird Luncheon" -- a simple gathering of '66 classmates for lunch somewhere around Lakeland, Florida.

We are checking some comparison details with a couple restaurants off I-4. We will firm a weekday date near the end of January or first week of February. The luncheon would be from about 1PM - 4PM. Everyone would go "dutch" ($$) and pick up your own tab.

If you think you might be traveling that way or already be in the area around that time and would like to attend, email me at andersonwriter@gmail.com or post your interest on Facebook on the Going Deep: Life After Lakeview page. We hope to have a date and place settled within a couple weeks. About seven classmates have expressed interest thus far. If this works out, maybe we'll do another "mini-reunion" later in the winter.

Thanks for your input. We look forward to hearing from you. In the meantime, Merry Christmas!

Each year after Labor Day, this clown called Mr. Listen (with huge ears) would come around to various schools enticing kids (and scaring them too) to try out for the BC Junior Theatre production . In 1959 several classmates made the cut. I see Laura Rahn, Allan Reed, Janet Austin, Barb Arnquist, Sharon Crosby, Janice Clapp, Bea Dott, terry Goff, Patti Knight, Anna Baker, and Mike Anderson. Terry, Patti, Bea, and Mike would car pool over to Lincoln school for practices after school until dark.
