Jim Hansen was one of the most talented athletes in our class.  Big, strong, fast. Great arm.

Although he only dabbled in interscholastic sports, he was a force in the parking lot during school dances.

Coulda' been a contenda'.

I saw Jim a week or 2 before he died.  He looked great, slim, well built.  Looked like he had dropped 100 lbs.  In fact I hired him into GTW not long before he died.  I also was friends with the girl whose house where he died.

Jim and I were born in BC the same day, started Kindergarten together as 4 year olds at Minges Brook. Jim had impressive athletic abilities from the playground to the High School pool. Not bad in the parking lot either. RIP

Dave Blaskie

Our paths crossed in September 1963 in Donald Davenport's Biology class. As a classmate, Gary Nemrava said of him," Jim, was a gentle giant" When I entered Lakeview at that time, I was skinny, shy and quite vulnerable. On a morning, about two months into that school year, and before the start of that day's classes, a classmate started a fight with me in the school halls. One of the teachers broke it up. That other boy and I then agreed to rendezvous at some point to "have it out" However, to my surprise- and vast relief- he decided we shouldn't fight. I soon learned the reason for the cancellation. Jim was said to have told him," You even touch Blaskie and you deal with me" It surely was advantageous to have big Jim Hansen on your side!

Jim Hansen went to Nursery school at Woodlawn with Paul Hargis, Chris Yanitelli (Central) and me. We were the first Woonlawn class. 30 years later, my wife comes home from Woodlawn registration for my youngest daughter and says Woonlawn was in its last year. Funny to have the first class and my daughter in the last class, however they managed to sell the place and keep going.
